Characteristics:
It is the only separate
specialized display of Eastern Rite icons in Slovakia. It
includes displayed icons - paintings on wood - from the
16th to 19th centuries, on which the visitor can follow
the development of Carpathian icons. Among other exhibits,
there are icons on canvas with the topic of The Last
Judgement, embroidered religious vestments and church
furniture.
The Icons from the
collection of The Šariš Museum in Bardejov were presented
in many countries (Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Poland,
Czech Republic).
The one of the most
distinguished was The World Exhibition in Osaka (Japan) in
1970. On the occasion of The World Exhibition in Osaka two
sets of stamps with the theme of The Šariš Museum's
icon were released.

In the year of 2001 another
stamp with the theme of the icon from
the Museum's
collection was released.
The Exposition of Icons was
reinstalled in 2005. Acquired icons from the church in the
village of Borov and other restored icons were added.
